Hi guys, What are everyone's views on reality televission shows. Do you think that now they have gone too far with them? I feel that some of them are alright, but the ones where they are tricking people in to marrying weirdo guys for money are a bit much. I also think that there are too many of them now. I think that some of them are rigged as well, because a lot of the older ones seem to be following a pattern. Like for example survivor. It went like guy girl guy girl ect. What does everyone think
I myself have a problem believing that these "reality" shows are conducted as they say they are, that is without the person knowing what is happening or unbiasedly or whatever it may be. Does anyone else find it irnoic that they are called "reality" tv when the situations in which the contestants are placed are far from realistic?

I think there are way too many and that most of them are rediculous and some of them are down right mean spirited. The only one I like is American Idol, and I am looking forward to that starting again in January.
Yup I only watched the apprentice as the only reality show. But even still I got bored watching it. Reality TV is nothing but half nude, swearing, back stabbing, show offs trying to win. Like Survivor last season has a commercial where the contestants were to get up close with a real fire breathing volcaneo. Who in right mind would risk getting burned by lava? Better yet killed? I'm like "ass holes you're doing this for fame not for your health." Big Brother states they don't have their contestants "act" on the show when the producer was caught telling the one evictee to be happy and excited to see her realitive when she asked what they wanted her to do. I can't stand the Batchlor or the Batchlorette simply because you hear the couples the contestants choose break off in the end. And I too can't stand Fox's Who Wants To... reality show series. First it was Merry a Millionare, then Marry My Big Fat Abnoctious Fiancee when on one news program the guy admitted it's all acting. Along with the My Big Fat Abnoctious Boss where there IS no job. And MTV's trying to win over the dating craze with two dating programs. One person checks out 3 contestants room to determine if the person is suitable. Another was having the dater interview the 3 contestants moms. Ok that show seems alright as you gotta interview the parents anyways or ask questions about their sons/daughters not for a date but out of curiosity. But still that show is just as much trash as the rest of them. So I really wish these shows get their own network and STAY there. So out of all of these loosers of reality tv, I do watch the Apprentice once in a while. But I'm not a die hard fan that has to watch the show every week, or the reruns on Saturday for the extra board room shit.
I don't care for the stuff myself, but I suppose they ran out of plots for cop and mystery shows, so they ahd to come up with something different, eh? But anyhow, I think they're nothing more than elaborate game shows since there seems to be a large cash prize involved to the winner. I do think they try and get people together on these shows who will most likely not get along or betray somebody as it makes for great drama. Man, if reality is nothing but rejection, backstabbing and hatred, that's a reality for people who are about ten times more cynical than I am, and I think I'm pretty damn cynical. Hahahaha!
hahahah sounds likie a lot of the views are simelar on thius one. I agree, the batcheler and batchelerette are horrible. They make the contestants look durty and stupid or something.
Yup, mostly anything now a days with reality tv is trash hands down. I mean I thought the reality shows on MTV was bizzare but I gotta say Fear Factor is just GROSE. And all you see is half clad idiots wanting a million bucks.
yep I think the maridge ones are stupid - not that we have any here but we get your lot to watch. but Bigbrother, I am going to be auditioning for the second time for our fifth show next year. wish me luck! I sooo sooo have wanted on there for sooo long! :) Lol I might be famous! :)

In my opinion, there is nothing more fake or less real than quote unquote reality TV. Get it all off the air!
Amen Leaf! I couldn't agree with you more :). And RD good luck to you. But I solely gotta agree about the marriage shows: All they're doing is asking for expensive wedding jewlery, 15 minutes of fame, lots of cash, and try to extend it with controversy when the honey moon arrives when one of the spouses seperates. As for the talent reality shows: Star Search only lasted 2 or 3 seasons and there were some really great talented people. But there were alot of fake people on there. The singing shows i.e. American Idol I can't stand. But what I can't stand even more is when some record company offers a small contract for: a music video, recording sessions to build a album, ring tones for cell phones and other parafanelia along with air time because this person cannot sing and is pretty much trying to be like Ricky Martian turns me off. Yup William Hung by far the worst singer there gets all the goodies and he was rejected and here those who weren't had to go through a grueling process to win a contract. Can I say messed up? Shit like that needs to be taken off air.

most of it is just acting, and most of the contestants are freaks who just want their five minutes of fame. The UK series of big brother was absolute carbage, and the contestants are all encouraged to do the most outragious things just to get ratings. If I remember rightly, this year's series contained only two straight, heterosexual contestants, the rest were either gay, bisexual, and the winner was a transsexual, but she had not told her fellow contestants. Not that I am homophobic, but I think that the TV producers exployted this fact to gain ratings for their shows.
But sadly while people watch, they will keep producing.
As for american idol, pop idol, x-factor and all these other talent shows ... sadly 9 times out of 10 it ain't talent they're after, but some beautiful person who looks good on a record label.

You're trying out for CI Jenn? I know of a few people who are also trying out. I thought about giving it a try 2 years ago, but I changed my mind, Hehee! Good luck though :)
I know they are all scripted and I think it's dumb.
